How to become a better truck driver?

The driving skills of drivers greatly contribute to the image of that person in society. Because it’s not just a matter of prestige. When someone drives well this means that there is less danger for yourself and other road users. And given that traffic is a major cohabitation of many drivers, and that it is important to minimize threats to each other.

Due to general security (and little by little for your prestige), we prepared a couple of tips for every driver, both the one who almost passed the driving test and veterans.

Adjust the seat for proper seating

A lot of drivers do not pay attention to this. Although you need to be comfortable in driving, it is most important to sit properly, because of too much comfort you can relax too much, and it can also bother you and you will not have a control of the vehicle.

Namely, it is essential to install the seat so that your back is right while you are sitting, but you continue to sit on the back of the seat, and that you can reach the steering wheel with your hands all the time. Also, the knees should be in the optimal position (the angle in the knees should be about 90 degrees). The height of the seat should be as low as possible (due to the feeling of the center of the vehicle’s balance), however, it should also give an optimal view of the event ahead.

It is important to note that we are all different and that there is no optimal seat adjustment. Before you go to drive, if you have not, take a little time checking the type of tuning that suits you most.

Always consider that everyone around you is uncertain

Namely, if at least once you have traveled by car, it is clear to you that there are still a lot of participants in the traffic and that they bring, sometimes, very bizarre decisions. On the other hand, there are many good drivers, however, while you sit behind your wheel you can not be sure of the quality of other drivers.

This means that you should always be on the alert, even when all the laws are on your side and you drive completely according to regulations. For example, you can never be 100% sure that when you pass on the green, someone who is very worried about going to red will not fly out. It is recommended the so-called. “Passive” driving – riding without rush and nervousness. Also, try to anticipate situations that can happen to you so you can respond in a timely manner.

Of course, this does not mean that you should be constantly scared by the wheel, but greater caution should lead to greater confidence.

Keep the proper distance between the vehicle

A very important part of the aforementioned “passive” drive.

“Paste” for the vehicle in front of you prevents you from responding in time to (sudden) changes in the movement of vehicles in front of you. Of course, the distance between the vehicle depends on many factors such as the speed of movement, road conditions, visibility, traffic density, but a rule adhered to by experienced drivers is that the speed of movement should be divided by two and then converted into miles.

Hands follow your eyes

This is especially true for critical situations requiring a quick reaction, except that it is one of the fundamental ways in which a human body functions. If you find yourself in a situation where you are in danger, it is most important to look for a way out. If you are focusing on a source of danger, your reaction will be quicker.

Think ahead

We have already mentioned this in another tip, however, it’s not a bad idea to separate this as a special tip. In addition to being aware of all the things that are happening around you, be sure to pay attention to the traffic signs, as they give you insight into what is ahead of you. Use this information to prepare yourself for turning, tweaking, overtaking, braking, etc.

Driving in bad conditions

Bad weather is in no way beneficial to new drivers, especially since auto-schools are rarely trained in snow, rain and similar conditions. However, there are also some useful tips here:

As it reduces visibility, be sure to include both front and rear fog lights and very cautiously. Also, if you have the capabilities, follow someone who is going in front of you, of course, still respecting the safe distance rules.

Rain causes a slippery carriage, and you need to drive more carefully. The wheels do not fit well when the carriage is wet, and braking, especially abruptly, usually leads to more slipping. For the safest ride in the rain do not have to rush, and instead of braking, reduce gas.

Snow and ice are the biggest trouble of drivers, and even some more experienced ones are not the safest when driving in these conditions. The most important thing to know is that there is no high speed here, sudden braking, sudden turning, and any hasty reactions. All this causes the vehicle to slip through the snow. Instead, the steering, gas, and brakes should be managed with moderation and the gentleness of the movement. If the vehicle has ABS, know that it will slip a little more, but you will also be able to control the vehicle.

These are just some of the tips that can improve driving.

Your safety, as well as the safety of other road users, is an absolute priority and it is important to know that the best and most secure way to drive is to contribute to better traffic. And finally, be aware of the fact that at the moment you sit behind the wheel, your life is in your hands.
